Update from the Shipyard
Last updated: 1:00pm 11/7/24
At approximately 11:08 am on Thursday, November 7th, a crane was preparing to launch a barge into the water when the rigging failed. The barge was sent partially into the water, damaging parts of a dock and a vessel.
There were no injuries. No one was in the water or underneath the barge at the time of the incident. The crane operator did not suffer any injuries.
The shipyard immediately notified state police, Boston police, and Massport police, who responded to the scene.
At this time, we are awaiting the arrival of a second crane to the shipyard to maneuver the barge out of its current position.
The shipyard will be closed until further notice while we respond to this incident.
