Update from the Shipyard

UPDATE: The barge was successfully launched at approximately 4:30 am on Friday, November 8th. A second crane arrived at the shipyard to safely maneuver the barge out of its position and into the water. 

The shipyard is resuming normal business activities.

At approximately 11:08 am on Thursday, November 7th, a crane was preparing to launch a barge into the water when the rigging failed. The barge was sent partially into the water, damaging parts of a dock and a vessel.

There were no injuries. No one was in the water or underneath the barge at the time of the incident. The crane operator did not suffer any injuries. 

The shipyard immediately notified state police, Boston police, and Massport police, who responded to the scene.
